How to Afford Designer Clothing

Buying that dream designer item is probably top of the list for any fashionista.  Not only will they boost your social standing immensely but they are usually very well made and extremely attractive items.  However, unless you are earning the big bucks, purchasing them isn’t always possible and very few ‘normal’ people can afford to buy them.  However, we have gathered together some top tips for ways you can afford to buy designer clothing.

Know the Designers
If you want to buy designer clothes you should try to at least know and recognise some of the designers themselves.  Look online and find out who the ‘must know’ designers are and then research their individual styles.  You might fall in love with a particular bag but unless you know the person behind it, you won’t measure up in the world of fashion.

Know the Prices
Just as there are a variety of styles when it comes to designer clothing, there are also a variety of prices and the range is vast.  You can buy smaller items for the sum of £120 right up to haute couture items priced at £45,000+.  However, some designers do specifically create ‘cheaper’ lines so it is always worth knowing what is available.  Realistically, you are probably going to need to save for quite some time to be able to afford the top range even if you are buying discount designer clothing.  Save money where you can and focus on the end goal of owning that gorgeous handbag or elegant dress.  Remember as well that designer items are worth their price tag and are well-made and designed to last.  It’s also worth keeping an eye out for designer sales when you can make considerable savings on items.

Know the Style
When it comes to finally purchasing your designer item, use some common sense. If it doesn’t match anything in your wardrobe and is, therefore, completely unwearable is it really worth the price?  Choose something which will complement the clothes you already have and use it to enhance existing outfits.
